Crusty Climate Activists and Other Curiosities
Stuff to check out while I'm writing other stuff
Since my last update post, we’ve also published a handful of MindMatters shows. First, the holy trans trinity—transhumanism, transgenderism, and transcendence:
This next one was inspired by my piece on cancel culture, which turned out to be pretty popular (thanks to a much-appreciated boost by
):Next we dipped our toes into the sweet, fiery waters of Boehmian theosophy:
And most recently, we had Maronite Priest and Gurdjieff researcher/practitioner Joseph Azize back on the show to have a serious discussion about death, with a tie-in to the above theosophers:
Hopefully at least one of those topics will strike your fancy.
And while I have your attention, let me direct you over to
for a discussion on the populist lessons of Poland’s Solidarność:Not only is it a fascinating history and analysis, it provides some background for Political Ponerology. Lobaczewski was Polish after all, and the events described took place in the period in which Lobaczewski worked and developed his ideas. Solidarność was largely an expression or result of what he called the formation of a society of normal people. A small excerpt from McConkey’s piece:
Throughout the latter 70s any worker publicly criticizing the government or promoting workers rights and free trade unions was silenced or dismissed, and often blacklisted. In today’s argot, they were deplatformed or cancelled. In Goodwyn’s estimation, by the second half of the decade worker alienation from the communist regime was near universal. The time for “raising consciousness,” as the intellectuals of KOR would have called it, was well past. The challenge now was to find a way to publicly express opposition to the party without having one’s life ruined. The challenge, in Goodwyn’s words, was: “how to perform the acts necessary to encourage workers without undercutting oneself by getting fired and inadvertently proving once again the futility of all such activism.”
UPDATE: Right after posting, McConkey published part 3 of his series. Here’s an excerpt that highlights the practical knowledge gained through years of experience of pathocratic rule:
Central to Goodwyn’s analysis of Solidarność is the understanding that the social knowledge necessary to gradually build an effective workers’ movement (and I’d supplement: more generally, a populist movement) is experiential. It is only by living through a history of organizational and strategic failure, trial and error, experience – given a sufficient continuity, by oral tradition or other means – may people come to learn how to recalibrate their actions toward the means for greater success in the next iteration. As the KOR intellectuals had no access to such experience, access to such social knowledge was closed off to them. Marinated as so many were in their Hegelian Marxism, it was difficult for many of them to accept that, or even understand why, it was not a journalist or academic that emerged as the leader of the Polish August, but an electrician.
Instead of focusing on the political theater of climate change activists who essentially have no real political power, especially as both humanly caused climate change and environmental destruction too are the inevitable result of the ruling power-and-control-seeking paradigm which in turn has the collective momentum of three thousands years of his-story driving it. The origins, the historical developments and the cultural manifestations of that momentum was described by Lewis Mumford in his book The Pentagon of Power. In the last interview that he gave before he died he pointed out that all of the negative trends that he described and warned us about had gotten muchly worse by many degrees.
Meanwhile why not check out these three outfits which are key propaganda factories for business as usual - even ratcheted up by many degrees. These outfits have hugely enormous powerful interests financing and backing them.
Please check out these references which provide comprehensive descriptions of these 3 outfits
