Look at the bright side. As it's generally and pervasively more known, that if, in whichever way, any move or player within the game, cannot produce a satisfactory outcome, then the game isn't worth playing. It is what it is.

In 2025, with what people are exposed to now on the internet the reaction would be minimal. We have just had years of Ukranian snuff films and even POTUS using snuff films from Yemen in DOD recruiting. We have Kanye and his parading around women and NHH.
As much as the societal degeneracy pains me, in terms of breaking public perception and the power these people have this is actually an excellent thing.
The compromised boomers, however, no longer understand that we do not care about their sex tapes and r**e tapes. So many people have died brutal deaths at the hands of these people that we do not care about their degeneracy.

I do remember reading a while back that, in order to ascend to the higher eschalons in the CCP, a member must have some kind of deviant behavior that can be leveraged as blackmail. in other words, a clean cut, ethical square will never be in any real position of power in China.

The threat isn't necessarily public exposure. It's like the situation you described: more of an initiatory ritual than anything, with the constant threat of possible exposure, that never actually comes, because the type of person involved in this isn't the type to grow any sort of conscience. And anyone who breaks ranks can just have a minor scandal exposed or be eliminated by other means.

Yeah, this has been my suspicion. Look at Hunter Biden: he takes a bunch of super incriminating photos of himself, with his phone, then transfers the photos to his laptop, then brings the laptop to a local repair shop during the democratic primaries in which his father is running for president. He makes a joke to the technician about how much incriminating shit is on the laptop, then leaves it there and refuses to ever come pick it up.
This is after the democrats suffered three different political disasters in 2016, related to electronic communication: the DNC leaks; Hillary's email server; and Huma Abedin's insecure laptop, which contained inappropriately-stored, classified State Department cables and also child pornography downloaded by her husband, Anthony Weiner. One would assume IT security would be absolutely paramount during the 2020 election cycle. Hunter Biden's behavior is the exact opposite of what you would do while your dad is running for president and it should not be taken at face value that this was a goof.
Then we have Biden's daughter, Ashley, who is in her forties and supposedly still keeps a diary. She wrote in her diary that she took inappropriate showers with her father as an adolescent, and then she left this diary in a hotel room! This is still during the primaries, in an election year in which her father is running for president! Again, I don't have a totally solid explanation for this but carelessness is not an acceptable explanation for either sibling.

I am thus looking at the reason for the very initial existence of those situations where ordinary people, who later become blackmailed, molest kids as a "hobby" (let's say - I don't know how to qualify this). And I see the problem that ordinary people don't spontaneously form such groups. This may be relevant in the context of a thorough study.

Those may have been people who tried to fight their blackmailer - and who did not know who he was, making them avoid assassination, I suppose.
Someone might have been cashing in blackmail chips on Harvey Weinstein. His prosecution was so gratuitously degrading that I'm surprised by what was deemed admissible in court. One woman testified that Weinstein's genitalia was so misshapen, she thought he might be transgendered. At one point, a rendering of Weinstein's naked body was shown in the courtroom and the article that reported this made a point to describe how gross his naked body looked in the drawing. I'm glad he went down, but I don't understand the humiliation ritual aspect of this unless the whole thing was a kind of punishment.
Look at the bright side. As it's generally and pervasively more known, that if, in whichever way, any move or player within the game, cannot produce a satisfactory outcome, then the game isn't worth playing. It is what it is.
Power ultimately depends on playing its game to be. So then it follows, the only moves, for a satisfactory outcome, requires stepping outside the game of power.
Those at the pinnacles of power, or at the very least, occupying spaces high up in the pyramid hierarchy, are presently blinded by their arrogance. If anything this is a sign of systemic fragility.
The games of power will always be played. I see no way to avoid them. The best we can do it seems to me is to make these games more fair and honest. There are many able beings who are not craven madmen and do not wish to be. Help them, and they could some day take over. That is the basic strategy of my group.
There is still blackmail to be had by those in possession of the tapes. Better to blackmail for purpose than expose for justice
