Cognitive dissonance was my favorite term for describing the behavior of the masses 2020-2021 and unfortunately that term still holds true. Pathocracy is the best way to describe our current government and their 3 letter agencies not only in the US but in several other countries, especially those with WEF grads at the helm. Thank you for teaching me this new word and for your excellent, insightful article.

I loved Giorgia Meloni’s speech. I watched it several times when it came out.

Agreed - Pathocrats are the problem.

Looking forward to watching Joshua's video!

Thanks for the shout out! You are the most amazing Harrison Koehli I've ever known, and I honestly mean that.

Hope your week of non-fun stuff breezed past quickly!

These concepts are valuable.

I learned them using a different framework, though.

In the psychology I learned, people vary due mostly to short-term and long-term experience, training, and personal choices. Where they land in any one lifetime tends to define their approach to life (Tone Level) for that lifetime. Individuals may be more "stuck" or more "free" in their emotional responses to life's challenges. Generally speaking, being more flexible (but not volatile) is considered more sane.

Psychopathy requires a special approach that, for me, falls under the subject of "Ethics." Ethics (and Justice) addresses situations where normal social operations and successful procedures and technologies are interrupted or attacked, to the detriment of society as a whole, or individuals. We can always suspect the involvement of psychopaths when things like this happen. Ethics is designed to locate the active psychopaths in any given situation, and Justice is designed to protect the innocent from their attacks and to expose or contain the real criminals. If Ethics and Justice don't perform these tasks, then they need reform.

Ideally, partisan politics represents honest contests between honest people who simply prefer differing approaches to life. Realistically, politics almost always includes broken players who are afraid of being discovered and maneuver for political cover. Because we have free speech in "liberal democracies," voters have to be able to locate the compulsive liars on their own, with the help of independent journalists, or an honest Ethics and Justice system which, unfortunately, does not exist in most places.

To the extent that our independent investigative journalists can be interfered with or removed, a former pillar of "systems of normal man" falls, and those systems become even more threatened.

The main problem might well be that the lesser menagerie of political pronouns struggle with naming the nouns properly: the [mock synthetic] wool is all they can see of a wolf scheming undercover 😳 Sowing all the right words is the noblest task of yours! A mission? 😊

Liberal pathocrats seem enthusiastic about maiming, sterilizing, mutilating and killing children. That and reducing women to a lower class not to be talked about, while suggesting violent criminals should be a protected class. And depopulating the planet in the name of saving it.

Conservative pathocrats would bomb most of the planet for their investment portfolio, while holding oligarchs as the only protected class.

I was thinking similarly. In my mind though, it was extreme left and extreme right that was the problem. (semantics)There are genuinely good people on both sides of the divide that don’t fall into the category of extreme or pathological. Although I lean right, I can appreciate the position of good people on the left. It’s nuanced thinking and context that is needed to not fall into black and white thinking, but that requires effort.

Excellent essay. I think a big problem is that we have forgotten what governments are for, and what principles and human goals they are to protect, and what is outside their purview. The socialist/fascist idea that everything is a matter for the state to decide has made governments the object whose goals matter instead of the individuals in the general population. Only then can things like God and family seem crazy when spoken in the same sentence as fatherland as equal considerations.
