Lest I be accused of missing the point, I will admit this was an opportunistic comment in search of an article.
I'll temper it with this: I read that 86% of Israelis blame Netanyahu for the recent attacks by Hamas. Compare that to Bush's 90+% approval rating after 9/11. This gives me hope that positive change can come from within Israeli society.

Reminds me that I totally forgot to include something I was planning to: that Hamas wouldn't exist today (at least not in its current form) if Israel had not supported them in the early years as a "bad cop" to the PLO's "good cop." Divide and conquer. And then Netanyahu funded them for the same reason!

Do you present that as justification for the Hamas attack or as argument for why Israel should not respond to that attack?
In real life, difficult choices are sometimes forced between two evils. Results vary.
"Do you present that as justification for the Hamas attack"
Nope. Explanation and context, but not justification.
"or as argument for why Israel should not respond to that attack?"
Nope.
